Did anyone find your family? I think we are related to this line as well. Would love to make the link.

Hi, I have been tracing my family tree and have got back as far as Henrie Leevers who was born in 1599 in Greasley. it would seem that his son Henry Leevers (b. 1631), his son Timothy Leevers (b. 1657), his son Joseph Leevers (b. 1686), his son Joseph Leivars (b. 1713), his daughter Ann Levers (b. 1750), and her son Henry Raynor (b. 1784) were all born in Greasley too. Henrie Leevers would have been my Great x 10 Grandfather. Does anyone have any information on any of my ancestors that they would be willing to share?
Tom Barber says...
Hi everyone
My name is Tom Barber, and I am researching for a biography I am writing on my great-grandfather Thomas Philip Barber. He lived at Lamb Close House in the parish, was Chairman of the Barber Walker & Co colliery company and was - I think rather unfairly - the model for a lot of DH Lawrence's more unsavoury characters! I am looking for as many information sources as possible and came across this website and subsequently signed up.
I have got a good deal of factual and historical data now, but feel I am missing a good deal of colour about the man. Does anyone know of any elderly parishioners who might have memories of my great-grandfather? I am particularly looking for miners who worked in the Barber Walker pits before nationalisation in 1947. They would obviously be in their 80s or more, but I am sure some survive.
Otherwise, any local information/memories/anecdotes/gossip about TP Barber would be gratefully received. I hope the biography will help bring some recentish history of Greasley (my great-grandfather was created Sir Philip Barber of Greasley in 1960) to light and life.
Thank you in advance for any information.
Tom Barber
