Interested in all the other greasley's in Canada. Not many of us as far as I know. Many originally from Manitoba. Would be interested in those who went to Australia as well.

fascinating to find out about the place where my 4th great grandfather and his family were born and lived (name of Lilley) . (i am researching my family history) my dad was born in gedling and moved away when he joined the army in the 60's. It looks like a great place with a long interesting history . I had hoped for some royalty in my family tree, but they are mostly salt of theearth labourers, miners, workers.

I'm a leivars my dad lived in sawley his name was douglas leivars. Would be interesting to know were the name leivars come from.
hi joy, my dad is wilfred leivars born 1928 sawley, one of his brothers was called douglas leivars. Email me .... maybe its the same one , a very high possibility.

Can anyone help re: James Meakin born Greasley 1799 approx?
In 1841 he appears to be widowed with five children at home. (Thomas, Catherine, Emelar, Ann and Isaac)
I think his first wife was called Rebecca Needham and his father, Henry Meakin.

I feel exactly the same way, and the further back I go in my family history the more ancestors I have from the area, which is surprising because when I started researching the place I had NO RELATIVES from here, just a feeling of belonging!

all my loved ones are buried at greasley,i intend to be,i have never ever felt such peace and calm as i do when in the church,its really beautiful,ive been in lots of churchs and never felt the same,i cant explain it,all i know is that when i am in there i fear nothing.its the most peaceful ever,
I really like the site.
I have just joined this community. Hope to be make friends with all of you through this interesting place.
