Moorgreen Reservoir
Used as the location for the drowning in the novel Women in Love and renamed Whilley Water, it also featured in The White Peacock as Nethermere.

My grandfather's brothers were also drowned Moorgreen Reservoir in the first years of the 20th century. Benjamin and Francis Naylor were the sons of the gamekeeper Samuel Naylor, on the estate of the local landowner, We believe that D H Lawrence was aware of this incident, and probably bore it in mind whe he wrote Women In Love.
